Sketch and Share is a collaborative sketch pad for friends that comunicates voice and sound. Kids in a local environment can sketch, play sounds, and talk to each other.

The screen is made of a grid of buttons that each toggle a light. The sketches on one toy will appear on the other. One possibility is that the drawings will be shifted from one toy on the other with a slider at the bottom of the toy. When the buttons are pressed, they will play back sound.

Possibilities with sound include the ability for one child to control the sounds of the other child's Sketch 'n Share. We also want the children to talk to each other while they are sketching by embedding a walkie talkie into the toy. In addition, we could implement speak, mute and distort functions on the walkie talkies.h

The initial prototype of the Sketch 'n Share will use RF direct connect, with potential Ethernet or GSM base station capabilites for long-distance play. We envision the Sketch 'n Share as having the out-of-the-box capability of locally networking using RF and the possibility of long-distance play using an attachment sold separately.

Each Sketch 'n Share will have the ability to render in two different colors (the grid will be made of bi-color LEDs).
